Looking Ahead and Behind
What's on the cards for Brogues Britannicus in 2026
Last year was a good one for writing here, I averaged around a post per week across the year. I continue writing about whatever takes my fancy, and aim to continue this through the new year.
I had two posts that went, by my standards, relatively viral getting over 2000 views each. I’m not sure why, though I’ve long observed that cultural and political commentary does better on here.
I do have some ideas for more satirical or parodic fiction, I’ll keep writing about books and I’ll continue with poetry. I do plan on writing a little more on food and drink as I’ve not published anything like that in a while.
As you can tell, I write because I enjoy it and I’m not planning on making a career, or even side-hustle, of substack. My interests are too random and scattered and I’d rather do what I want than game an increasingly Byzantine platform and algorithm.
I do plan on releasing a book of poetry this year. It was planned for last summer but I never got around to it. The work is written and titled, it’s a matter of covers, formatting and then trying to get sales into the double figures. I published an urban fantasy short story around a decade ago which sold around 50 copies as an e-book but I’m leaning towards a physical book this time.
Thanks for reading, I hope to share some interesting things with you all in 2026.
