Tribute to Venner

12 years on from his suicide, Venner's works are still being published. Let's hope more make their way into English and his legacy continues to grow.

He was the samurai of the West,
Chronicler of Europe's ways,
Seeing the century's coming unrest,
And crafting histories worthy of praise.

A soldier first, 
For ancient right,
Spending youth in rebellion immersed.
Preserving Europe's soul through dark night.

Becoming a statesman of the French right,
In battles, culture, and tradition's legacy,
And despite his prisoner's plight,
He remained a guardian of memory.

His final chapter was wrought by his hand,
On the greatest altar in his homeland.
